The winner of this year’s Farmers Insurance Open will be home in time to watch the NFL conference championships, since the tournament once again ends on Saturday to avoid football.

The winner will also be $1.62 million richer, as that’s the first-place prize from a $9 million purse. The Farmers Insurance Open got a small bump from last year, which paid out $8.7 million.

Next week’s stop on the West Coast swing is a signature event at Pebble Beach, which compromised this week’s field a bit, but some star power was still on hand with defending champion Max Homa as well as native Californians Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele.
