SALEM — Rep. Greg Smith has a seat on the Legislature’s committee reviewing Measure 110 and proposing solutions to the public safety and behavioral health crises facing the state.

Oregon Speaker of the House Dan Rayfield, D-Corvallis, on Friday, Feb. 2, announced the appointment of the Republican from Heppner to the Joint Committee On Addiction and Community Safety Response.

“This is going to be a very challenging committee, as we are tackling very serious issues,” Smith said in a press release. He emphasized the tension between accountability and resources as the committee dives into its work.

“My approach will be one of justice and mercy,” he said.

Ten members make up the joint committee, which will meet for the first time on Feb. 5.
