Excitement is building as the Good Shepherd Community Health Foundation prepares for the 54th annual Distinguished Service Awards. Tickets are $50 and are available at the Hermiston Community Center, 415 S. Highway 395.

The celebration is March 20, 5:30 p.m. at the community center. Cookin’ Spoo Style will serve tri-tip beef.
The award nomination deadline is March 1. Categories include man, woman, business and first responder of the year, and a Community Champion. Also, an Outstanding Young Citizen, 21 or younger, will be recognized. For nomination forms, visit www.gshealth.org/foundation.

Loteria Night offers family-friendly fun on Thursday, Feb. 22, 5-7 p.m. at the Boardman Senior Center, 100 Tatone St. Admission is free.

A fundraising breakfast for the Irrigon Multicultural Arts Center is Saturday, Feb. 24, 7:30-10:30 a.m. at Stokes Landing Senior Center, 150 Columbia Lane, Irrigon. The cost is $5.
To learn more about IMAC, attend the annual meeting on March 2, also at Stokes Landing. It includes a spaghetti feed for $7 at 5:30 p.m. The program features a short meeting and a slideshow highlighting the early days with ferries on the Columbia River.

After its successful inaugural event, the city of Umatilla is preparing to roll out information about the second annual Rock the Locks Music Festival. The event is Oct. 4-6 at Big River Golf Course.
Lineup announcements begin March 1, followed by ticket pre-sales March 8 for returning customers and to the general public on March 11.

Get ready to step out with Good Shepherd Health Care System during Better Bones and Balance, a risk-reduction exercise program developed by Oregon State University.
The first session is Monday, Feb. 26, 2-3 p.m. in the hospital’s conference room, 610 NW 11th St., Hermiston. The program continues each Monday and Wednesday through May 15.

The Heppner Chamber of Commerce celebrated the winners of its 2024 Town & Country Awards on Feb. 1 at the Gilliam & Bisbee Event Center in Heppner.
Those recognized included Molly Rhea, Lifetime Achievement Award; Tim Dickenson, man of the year; Beth Dickenson, woman of the year; Janet Wilson, citizen-educator; Cameron Proudfoot, student achievement; and Amado and Elia Juarez, of Tacos Hometown, business of the year.
