Sportsmen’s show offers keys to adventure

REDMOND — Hunter and renowned public lands advocate Randy Newberg will present a seminar series during the Central Oregon Sportsmen’s Show.
The 25th annual event also features hundreds of fishing and hunting exhibitors, a huge inventory of boats, recreational vehicles, trailers and ATVs, as well as gear and apparel for hunters, anglers and outdoor enthusiasts. In addition, activities include a kids’ trout pond, the Heads & Horns competition and the Wall of Kings, which features a collection of big game mounts.
The event is March 7-10 at the Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center, 3800 SW Airport Way, Redmond. The show’s hours are Thursday and Friday, March 7-8, noon to 8 p.m.; Saturday, March 9, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sunday, March 10, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $15 for adults, $8 with military identification, $5 for youths 6-16 and free for children 5 and younger. A two-day adult pass is $20.
Host of “Fresh Tracks,” Newberg will precent seminars including “Marriage 101 for Elk Hunters,” “Hunt Elk Every Year” and “E-scouting Using Technology for Better Hunting.” In addition, he will host a question-and-answer session.
Outdoor enthusiasts can shop for the latest gear and accessories, participate in a variety of seminars and learn about outdoor adventure destinations. Representatives will be on hand to discuss Alaska fishing opportunities, African safaris, game hunting in British Columbia, and hunting and fishing destinations in New Zealand, as well as top Oregon fishing guides.
