Boardman seeks community member for planning commission role

A meet-and-greet will include candidates for Morrow County commissioner Position 1 and Boardman mayor and city council on Oct. 21, 2024, at the Port of Morrow in Boardman.

BOARDMAN — The city of Boardman has announced a vacancy on its planning commission, inviting individuals residing within the city limits or in the 97818 ZIP code to apply for the position.

Scheduled for appointment at the April 2024 city council meeting, the selected candidate will officially join the planning commission at its April 17 meeting. The term for this position will extend until Dec. 31.

The planning commission, an advisory body to the council on matters concerning planning and development, consists of seven members the city council appoints. The commission holds monthly public meetings to deliberate on land use and zoning issues, including plan amendments, zone changes and tentative subdivision projects.

The meetings, typically on the third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at Boardman City Hall, are open to the public. Further details about the commission’s functions and responsibilities are online at shorturl.at/dALST.
