UMATILLA — Baker outscored Umatilla 26-5 over two games on Tuesday May 7, but that did not diminish the Vikings’ Strike Out Cancer game that honored former pitching coach Jordan Bennett.

“We had a lot of things happen today, and I’m so proud of this group and the amazing young women they are,” Umatilla coach Erick Olson said. “We still have a week to keep getting better.

The Vikings raised $2,430 for the Jordan Bennett Legacy Foundation, which was created by her family after she died last year of ovarian cancer.

The Bulldogs (8-14) won the first game 12-4 behind home runs from Macey Morgan and Lexi Rupel, then completed the sweep with a 14-1 win in the second game.

In the opener, the Vikings took a 1-0 lead after the first, and the Bulldogs evened the score in the second. After two scoreless innings, Baker put five runs on the board in the fifth, and three in the six and seventh to take command of the game.

The TigerScots had 13 hits on the day, including doubles by Ava Sams, Hope Berry and Bre Ward.
