HERMISTON — A road race that centers around Hermiston’s famous landmark is taking to the streets to raise money for the Hermiston cross country program.

The Butte Challenge is Saturday, June 1, with bib pickup at 7:30 a.m. at Butte Park, 1245 NW Seventh St. The event begins with a free kids race at 8 a.m., followed by the 5K run/walk and 10K run at 8:30 a.m.

Participants will receive custom Butte medals and gift bags at the finish line. In addition, those who pre-register will be entered into a drawing for door prizes.

Registration is $25 via www.buttechallenge.com. Also, family rates start at $85 for four or $90 for up to eight people.

For more than two decades, the Butte Challenge has provided support for the Hermiston cross country, including girls and boys from middle school through high school. For questions, contact Troy Blackburn at troy.blackburn@hermistonsd.org or 541-667-6100.
