HERMISTON — The Hermiston School District announced May 21 that Evelin Contreras Cardenas and Guadalupe Esparza, both seniors at Hermiston High School, were named Ford Scholars.

According to a press release, this prestigious scholarship program, offered by The Ford Family Foundation, meets 90% of a student’s financial need, up to $40,000 per year, for four years of college. Both students plan to attend the University of Oregon this fall.

“Evelin and Guadalupe’s achievements are a testament to their hard work and the supportive environment at Hermiston High School,” Superintendent Tricia Mooney said. “We are incredibly proud of all our Ford Scholars and look forward to their continued success.”
