Police log for May 24

Thursday, May 23

12:48 a.m. Hermiston police received a report of a burglary on Southwest Seventh Street.

7:45 a.m. A resident on Summit Lane, Boardman, reported her neighbor’s dogs came onto her property and killed her animals.

10:28 a.m. A Hermiston resident told police he moved to Oregon and his ex-girlfriend who he has a restraining order against in another state has found him and has been texting him. He said she is abusive and he feared for his life.

2:25 p.m. A caller complained about littering on Sagebrush Road in Hermiston. The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office took a report.

4:54 p.m. Staff at Willow Creek Terrace in Heppner reported a 90-year-old woman resident fell and was injured. An ambulance responded and took her to a local hospital.

Arrests, citations

May 23

Umatilla police arrested Nicholas L. Titus, 23, for two counts of second-degree assault.

Hermiston police arrested Anthony Tavarez Cruz, 21, on nine restraining order violations.

Hermiston police arrested Ruben Covarrubias De La Paz, 27, for strangulation and fourth-degree assault, both constituting domestic violence, and first-degree burglary.

Boardman police arrested Alexis Antonio Ascencion, 25, for driving under the influence of intoxicants, driving while suspended/revoked, reckless driving and two counts of reckless endangering.

Oregon State Police during a traffic stop at Highway 730 and Beach Access Road, Umatilla, found the driver, Jodyci Raj Juan Juan Barajas, 19, of Hermiston, did not have a valid driver’s license and there was no insurance on the vehicle. A later search of the car turned up a gun that was stolen out of Pendleton. Police arrested Barajas for felon in possession of a firearm, unlawful possess of a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon.
