MORROW COUNTY — Music in the Parks, a free 10-week concert program, returns to North Morrow County. The season begins June 17 and runs each Monday at 7 p.m. through Aug. 19.

The venue alternates weekly at the marina parks in Boardman, 1 NE Marine Drive, and in Irrigon at 430 NE Eighth St. The lineup features a variety of genres and a mix of crowd favorites and new acts.

June 17: Brass Fire Band (Boardman)

A group of talented performers from throughout the region sizzle with blues, soul, funk, jazz and rock. They feature everything from saxophones, trumpets and trombone to piano, bass, guitar and drums. Get ready to get down with music from the Big Band era and rock from the 1970s and ‘80s.

June 24: Shamrock & Sage (Irrigon)

Formed as a pop-up band in 2019, its members include professional and semi-professional musicians. The eastern Washington performers share a love of music and Irish whiskey. Their repertoire includes traditional Irish tunes, ballads and drinking songs from Ireland and beyond.

July 1: Bram Brata (Boardman)

The group’s name is derived from Trinidadian slang, meaning “an unexpected party.” Crowd members often break out in dancing during performances. The ensemble features senior performers from the Tri-Cities Steel Band Association, playing Caribbean, jazz, classical and other popular music.

July 8: Calico Bones (Irrigon)

Madison and Mckenzie Lindsey began performing at a young age. After years of piano lessons and opera training, the sisters formed as a duo in 2016. With their tight harmonies, they perform folk originals and cover songs from multiple eras, adding rhythmic instrumentals and flowing melodies. (Also Aug. 12 in Boardman).

July 15: Blue Mountain Spanish Sound (Boardman)

Jesse Campos and Lance Smith play original classical guitar music with Latin influences. Referring to their strumming finesse, Jason Valentine, of “Good Morning Northwest,” said the guitar duo has the “fastest fingers in the Northwest.”

July 22: SwingShift (Irrigon)

Bring your dancing shoes. Performing since 1983, this seasoned group of musicians is said to be one of Eastern Washington’s favorite dance bands — always drawing big crowds at Tri-Cities area Eagles Lodges.

July 29: The Boarding House (Boardman)

The Boarding House is the next generation of Eastern Oregon’s Irish Singers, who last performed in 2019. Led by Jeremiah Doherty and his cousins, Nick and Pat Doherty, they banded together in mid-2023. Rounding out the group are singers and musicians from the Great Pacific’s weekly bluegrass jam sessions.

Aug. 5: Stone Country (Irrigon)

In addition to country tunes, the Tri-Cities band performs familiar rock songs. The group has performed numerous times at the Pendleton Eagles Lodge, the Stanfield Moose Lodge and the Cool Rides Car Show in Hermiston.

Aug. 12: Calico Bones (Boardman)

See information for July 8.

Aug. 19: One Trick Pony (Irrigon)

Michael Trew offers covers of Paul Simon’s solo hits and the sounds of the folk duo Simon & Garfunkel. The audience is invited to join some spirited singalongs. And Trew isn’t a one trick pony — the Seattle-based musician also shares stories about how songs came to be.

Bring a blanket or lawn chair, and a picnic or beverages to enjoy while listening to the music. The Boardman venue coincides with the weekly farmers market.

In case of inclement weather, the Boardman shows will be held at the SAGE Center, 101 Olson Road, and at Stokes Landing Senior Center, 150 Columbia Lane, Irrigon. For more information, search www.facebook.com/boardman-irrigon.
