PENDLETON — The Blue Mountain Community College Foundation has announced 78 students received 84 foundation scholarships totaling $102,000.

This was the first cycle of scholarship awards for the 2024-25 academic year, the foundation announced. These scholarships are awarded based on academic performance and need, helping students cover tuition and educational expenses at Blue Mountain Community College.

In this first round of awards, the Foundation received 122 scholarship applications from students across 10 Oregon counties and four adjacent states. The second round will open on Aug. 28 and run through Oct. 9. The BMCC Foundation has more than $150,000 to award in the second round. Any current or prospective student planning to attend BMCC during the 2024-25 academic year is encouraged to apply.

“We have an outstanding cross-section of students each year,” Foundation Executive Director Ken Daniel said in the announcement. “One theme that stands out, again and again, is the importance of perspective, and how problem-solving in any relationship or obstacle is always best facilitated when approached with an open mind and willingness to look at things from all sides.”

The BMCC Foundation raises scholarship and emergency assistance funds every year to help ensure students have access to education as they pursue their careers. Below are the 78 recipients:
