Letter: Who are you afraid to resist?

Published 9:00 am Saturday, August 24, 2024

I would like you to think about your nonactions.

Has it occurred to you, when you are watching fiction such as “The Hunger Games,” “Star Wars” and “The Matrix” movies, you side with resistance?

When it is fiction you understand, you side with the resistance.

Yet when it is happening to you in real life, right now, in the news in the world, you refuse to see it, when it is the reality, you’re living in you are afraid to resist in real life! This blows my mind.

This is what happens when you continue to be a nonaffiliated voter or you are just too lazy as an American to register to vote and fight for your county, state and nation.

You continued to ignore the Umatilla County Elections Division, which sent you a mailing card with options for registering to vote. However, you did nothing, you were automatically registered to vote as a nonaffiliated voter (not a member of a political party).

Because of this, Umatilla County has, as of August, a total of 22,997 nonaffiliated voters, according to Oregon votes.gov.

Do you realize you block your voting freedom because you are left out of political party primaries?

The Oregon Umatilla County primaries are over, but the registration deadline to vote in the general election is Oct, 15.

I am asking you to go to your county election office, fill out a voter registration form and become a proud American.

If you are a citizen of Oregon — vote!

Kathy Wilson
