Lerten swings into top 10 at Pendleton Amateur Championship

- Colby Lerten lines up his birdie putt on the 18th hole at the Golf Course at Birch Creek on Aug. 24, 2024, to finish out the first round of the Pendleton Amateur Championship. The Hermiston High School junior finished the two-day event in a tie for eighth place while competing in the ages 54 and under open division.
PENDLETON — Hermiston High School junior Colby Lerten tied for eighth place after teeing off in the age 54 and under open division during the Pendleton Amateur Championship.
The 36-hole individual stroke play competition was held Aug. 24 at the Golf Course at Birch Creek and Aug. 25 at the Wildhorse Golf Course. Lerten shot a pair of 77s, including back-to-back birdies on holes 13 and 14 during the second round. He finished 10 over par.
