HERMISTON — Crews began work Wednesday, Oct. 2, to replace water lines on East Main Street in Hermistion.

Residents who did not receive a written notice from Culbert Construction are not expected to have their water service affected, according to a press release from the city.
The $1.8 million project will:
• Replace about 4,900 linear feet of water main line in downtown Hermiston with ductile iron pipe.

• Replace line along Gladys Avenue between Northeast Third Street and Northeast Seventh Street, and along East Main Street between Northeast Fifth and Ninth streets, as well as small portions on East Hurlburt Avenue and Southeast Seventh Street.
• Replace tees, valves and old cast iron water line.
