Halloween and elections — must be fall

Published 9:00 am Saturday, October 5, 2024

Dear readers,

Fall is here, and of course that means Halloween and elections.

On the fun spooky front, our Eastern Oregon newsrooms are cooking up several Halloween-related reports and features.

Wallowa County Chieftain editor Mike McInally is working a feature about “Haunt Camp” — a program for teens to build a haunted house experience with a different theme. Last year the theme was a Bermuda Triangle cruise, the year before a haunted Cheesecake Factory.

And at the East Oregonian, Berit Thorson has a feature on a local local high school student who spent about six months creating a costume based on his favorite video-game-turned-film, “Five Nights at Freddy’s,” which is a horror/mystery following a night security guard.

In more serious fare, news staff is working on reports about the coming general election, including the race for circuit court judge in Umatilla and Morrow counties, several sheriff’s races and local ballot measures.

We’ll work as much of this as we can into print, but as always you will be able to find this reporting and more on our websites for the East Oregonian, Baker City Herald, Blue Mountain Eagle, Wallowa County Chieftain, Hermiston Herald and The Observer.

Also as always, if you have feedback or story suggestions, please let us know.
