Wrong-way driver injures Hermiston woman in crash

KENNEWICK — A Hermiston woman was injured Thursday night, Oct. 31, when a wrong-way driver struck the car she was driving head-on.

The crash occurred at about 9:45 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 82 near milepost 113 at the Kennewick city limits, according to the Washington State Patrol, when William Shuck, 82, of White Bird, Idaho, was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox westbound in the eastbound lanes. The Chevrolet rammed head-on with an eastbound 2024 Kia sport.

Jizelle Gonzalez, 20, of Hermiston, was driving the Kia and suffered injuries. She was taken to Trios Health in Kennewick. WSP did not report on her injuries.

Her passenger, an 11-year-old boy, was not injured.

The crash totaled both cars, WSP reported, and all of the people involved were wearing seat belts.

Shuck faces a charge of driving the wrong way. Washington State Patrol also reported drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the crash.
