Households in Umatilla County who lost food purchased with Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits during severe weather on Nov. 19-20, 2024, can get replacement benefits by submitting a request by Dec. 18, 2024.

UMATILLA COUNTY — Households in nearly two dozen Oregon counties, including Umatilla County, utilizing the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program are eligible to request replacement benefits for food lost Nov. 19-20 because of severe weather.

The Oregon Department of Human Services received federal approval to waive the usual 10-day replacement period to help those impacted by strong winds and heavy rainfall that caused power outages. Those who lost food purchased with SNAP benefits can request a replacement by calling 800-699-9075, visiting a local ODHS office or filling out a form at bit.ly/4imd0MI. The request must be submitted by Dec. 18.

After receiving approval, the replacement benefits will be added to the household’s Electronic Benefits Transfer card. The maximum replacement amount is the cost of the food lost, not to exceed the household’s normal monthly SNAP benefit.
