BRG Welcomes Clinical Quality Improvement Leader Dr. Rick May to Healthcare Practice as Managing Director

DENVER, Feb. 11, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Global expert services and consulting firm BRG announced today that Dr. Rick May, a recognized leader in healthcare quality and performance improvement, has joined the firm’s Healthcare practice in Washington, D.C. As a managing director, Dr. May will collaborate with hospitals on a wide range of clinical quality improvement initiatives, including enhancing outcomes related to complications, lengths of stay (LOS), mortality, readmissions, infections and adverse events.
After 17 years of private practice as an orthopedic surgeon, Dr. May has spent the last decade as a preeminent healthcare consultant. Prior to joining BRG, he built and scaled a national Healthcare Quality and Performance Improvement consulting practice from the ground up. Under Dr. May’s leadership, the practice experienced rapid growth, serving more than 100 clients through clinical quality improvement initiatives at leading health systems. Dr. May also led the development of nine groundbreaking consulting products and several advanced data analytics tools to help hospitals improve quality metrics, reduce readmissions and enhance patient outcomes.
Dr. May previously led and managed a clinical quality improvement team, where he directed initiatives focused on improving patients’ lives across the country, and as a senior medical director he spearhead care improvement programs for injured workers. The novel programs he launched included development of new data analysis tools to understand physician performance and the “Provider Opioid Report,” which encourages physicians to review and optimize their opioid prescriptions.

Dr. May earned his MD and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and earned his BA in business administration from Colorado College.
