HERMISTON Barbara Louise Watson Velasquez, 76, of Hermiston died peacefully at her home Friday, Dec. 24, 2010. Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, 850 S.W .11th St., in Hermiston. Burial will follow at the Hermiston Cemetery.

Mrs. Velasquez was born Aug. 30, 1934, in Los Angeles, Calif., to John Pierpont and Ivy Mae (Smith) Morgan. She lived in Phoenix, Ariz., National City, Calif,, and Molalla. She met Donald Richard Velasquez (from Salt Lake City, Utah) in Sante Fe, N.M., and married him there in 1990. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Velasquez of Hermiston; son Richard Olson of Mississippi; daughters Patty Sheffield of Riverton, Utah, Mende Charapata of Molalla and Billie Bowles of Garibaldi; sister Betty Smith of Springville, Utah; brothers Neal Christman of Molalla and Noel Christman of San Diego, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Kenneth Morgan.
