What’s your favorite thing to do in Stanfield?
I belong to the Moose Lodge, so my husband and I do some volunteering. We’re new here. We moved here in 2019, because my mom’s here. I lived in Virginia for 30 years before that.
How would you compare Virginia to here?
It is totally opposite. I was in Virginia Beach, a resort area. There wasn’t much agriculture at all, and food was entirely different. The wine, compared to Virginia wine, is completely different. They have a gray clay soil. We have a sandy soil here that drains really well, so the wines are more acidic.
What do you recommend to someone eating at Bellinger?
Our soups. All our soups are made from scratch, made from everything we have in the field. I take the butternut squash and roast it up and make butternut squash soup. We make a pumpkin corn chowder. We make potato soup. We do a corn chowder, also. I also do a chicken gnocchi, and more.
Do you have any hobbies?
I love pets. If there were more animal shelters here, I’d be at them all the time. But I also like to hang out with my friends, reading, painting and things like that. I also spend a lot of time with my mom, now that I’m back home.
What’s your favorite book?
Oh my gosh, I like a lot of the Nora Roberts books. I can’t narrow one down.
