HERMISTON — The 2023-25 officers of the Oregon State Court of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas recently were installed during the Oregon Catholic Daughters of the Americas’ 50 Biennial Convention.

Held May 19-21 at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church, Hermiston, those in attendance also celebrated the 100-year anniversary of the Oregon State Court. The new state officers are Gail Holt, regent; Lisa Dryer, first vice regent; Margaret Pranger, second vice regent, Pat Ridenour, treasurer; and Kristi Smalley, secretary.

According to a press release, Smalley said about 60 women traveled to the event, including Yvette Griego, a national director. Father Shenan Boquet, the group’s national chaplain and president of Human Life International, served as the keynote speaker during the Saturday night banquet.

In addition, Boquet participated in the Friday night Memorial Mass. It celebrated all Catholic Daughters who died between 2019 to 2023.

Among those remembered, Smalley said, was Glenda Phillips, of the local Our Lady of Angels Court No. 1692. She was the acting state secretary at the time of her death on April 30, 2020.

A national organization, the Catholic Daughters give to charities, administer scholarship programs and strive to provide help to those in need. The convention theme, Smalley said, was “Do whatever He tells you,” based on John 2:5.
