ARLINGTON — The Arlington Jackpot Rodeo is preparing to wrangle in food and fun in its 75th year.

The event runs Saturday and Sunday, May 6-7, at the Arlington Rodeo Grounds, one mile south of town on Highway 19.

And before all the arena action, be sure to register as a contestant. The entry books are open from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, May 1-2, by calling 541-384-5815. For more about rodeo entries, visit bit.ly/43Pbs6C.

The traditional rodeo events are $50 per day, except for limited bull-riding, which is $90. Also, specialty events — including mutton bustin’, mini bulls, junior/pee wee barrel racing and buddy barrels — range from $10 to $35 each.

“This is a very exciting year as the Arlington Jackpot Rodeo is celebrating its 75th year,” said Eileen Potter, of the Arlington Saddle Club.

The event gets rolling at 10 a.m. Saturday with a parade in downtown Arlington. The rodeo performances start at 12:30 p.m. both days. Rodeo tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for ages 12 and under. Two-day pass prices are available for $9 and $6, respectively.

Queen Leilani Weiser invites everyone to attend the 75th annual Arlington Jackpot Rodeo. Serving in her second year, the 16-year-old will ride her 21-year-old gelding, Dekker.

The daughter of Jimbo and Tina Weiser of Arlington comes from a rich family history in rodeo. She’s active in volleyball, basketball, choir and student council at Arlington Charter School. She also has competed in rodeo, 4-H and dance, and is active in her church.

The queen’s luncheon begins after the parade Saturday at the North Gilliam County Fire Hall, 1500 Railroad Ave. A cowboy breakfast will be served from 7-10 a.m. Sunday at the Arlington Masonic Hall, 50 Shane Drive. The cook shack will be open both days.
