Farm Bureau announces scholarships, awards

PENDLETON — Paul Lindsay was among three local graduating seniors to receive a Umatilla-Morrow County Farm Bureau scholarship.

A Heppner High School graduate, he received $750. Lindsay plans to study nursing at Eastern Oregon University and wants to serve in a rural hospital.
In addition, the Farm Bureau established an incentive program to encourage and promote the study of agriculture for students attending Blue Mountain Community College. The award honors the memory of Anne-Marie Moss.
In its second year, those receiving the Anne-Marie Moss Excellence in Agriculture Award and their field of study are Jarrett Mink (ag business), Randy Calley (ag production-crops), Wyatt Dial (ag production-livestock), Trevor Smith (ag mechanics) and Omar Madrigal (precision ag).

Moss dedicated her life to informing the public and private citizens of the value of agriculture in everyone’s life. She served as the communications director of the Oregon Farm Bureau Federation for more than 18 years.
In addition to her passion for farming, Moss loved sharing stories about agriculture. She won numerous national awards for publications, writing, photography and social media promoting agriculture. The award is given to students who exemplify her work ethic and professional pursuits.
