NOTE: The city of Hermiston announced a correction for the date — the event is Monday, Nov. 18.

HERMISTON — Area residents are invited to ask questions, share ideas and provide feedback to city leaders during a new quarterly event in Hermiston.

The inaugural City Chat is Monday, Nov. 18, 9-11 a.m. at Maple Moose Coffee, 395 E. Main St. The coffee shop is located inside Mainstreet Keg & Kork. City Manager Byron Smith, Hermiston Energy Services General Manager Nate Rivera and city councilors will be present to share information, answer questions and listen to concerns of community members.

“We want these City Chats to be part of Hermiston’s ongoing commitment to transparency, engagement, and collaboration with residents,” Smith said in a press release. “They are intended to be an informal chance for people to learn more about the city’s goals and decision-making process and give us direct feedback on how we’re doing.”

Future City Chat events will be held at small businesses around Hermiston and will be scheduled at different times of day to reach more residents of the community. The city participants will represent different municipal departments.

The next event will be in January at Java Junkies. The time and date will be announced in early January.

Those unable to attend City Chat can connect with city officials via www.hermiston.gov/contact. For questions, contact Assistant City Manager Mark Morgan at 541-567-5521 or mmorgan@hermiston.gov.
