Hermiston police want to talk to victim of Dec. 27 hit-and-run

- Hermiston police are looking to speak to the driver or any passengers of this dark-colored SUV who were the victims of a hit-and-run Dec. 27, 2024, in Hermiston.
HERMISTON — The Hermiston Police Department is looking to speak with a driver who was the victim of a hit-and-run Friday night, Dec. 27.

HPD reported officers that night responded to numerous hit-and-runs involving the driver of a white Honda Civic with Washington plates.
“Through the course of the investigation, officers identified the Honda and its driver,” according to a statement Hermiston police posted on Facebook.
Police also found video of the Honda rear-ending a black or dark colored SUV at the intersection of West Elm Avenue and Highway 95, just after 9 p.m.The SUV was stopped in the eastbound turn lane, facing east on West Elm Avenue behind a silver pickup.

“When hit, the SUV was nearly pushed into (the) back of the pickup,” according to police. “When the driver of the SUV attempted to contact the driver of the Honda, the Honda drove around the SUV, through the intersection and into the grass near McDonald’s, before leaving that scene as well. The SUV attempted to follow the Honda following the crash.”
Hermiston police wants to hear from the driver or any passengers of the SUV.
“The SUV’s driver is in no trouble, we would simply like to identify him or her and get their statement,” according to police.
HPD also asked for the public’s help with this: “if you know who’s SUV that is, please call HPD at 541-567-5519, Option 1, and ask to speak with an officer. Reference HPD Case No. 24-3129.”
