HEPPNER — After a 10-year hiatus, the Morrow County Fair and Oregon Trail Pro Rodeo is re-instating its queen program.

The position is open to students between the ages of 14-19. Applicants must reside in Morrow County or other adjacent counties. The successful applicant will serve a term of one year as an ambassador for the county, the fair and the rodeo.

The application packet must be postmarked by Tuesday, Dec. 31, or submitted directly to the fair office by Jan. 6, 2025, at 74473 Highway 74, Heppner.

The 2025 fair and rodeo is Aug. 13-17. The queen’s duties and activities begin on Feb. 6, 2025, during the Heppner Chamber of Commerce’s annual Town & Country Awards Banquet at the Gilliam & Bisbee Event Center. The term will continue until the next coronation event in February 2026.

Applicants should have some equine experience and be able to ride and present their mount on horseback during parades, rodeos and other appearances. The queen will need to own or lease a suitable horse. Also, arrangements for a backup horse are highly recommended.
