HERMISTON Robert Lee “Bob” Fleener died Feb. 12, at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Hermiston at the age of 92.

He was born on Dec. 8, 1908, in Oak Creek, Colo., to Lee and Lillie May Reed Fleener. At the age of 7, his family moved to Juntura where he was raised and attended schools. He owned a ranch in the Juntura area until 1942 when he moved to Hermiston.

Bob married Rema Walters on Feb. 14, 1942, in Payette, Idaho. He worked at the Umatilla Army Depot from 1942 until his retirement. He and Rema enjoyed their horses after his retirement and successfully raced horses for a few years.

Bob was a member of the Elks Lodge and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rema Fleener of Hermiston, and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Hope Baker and Renna Miller.

A graveside funeral service was held Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. at the Hermiston Cemetery. Those who wish may make contributions in Bobs memory to a charity of their choice.

Burns Mortuary of Hermiston was in charge of the arrangements.
