Elizabeth Betty Jordan

HERMISTON Elizabeth Betty Jordan died on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Hermiston at the age of 84 years.

Betty was born on July 24, 1916, in Port Chicago, Calif., to Karl and Ellen Nordquist Nystrom. She had been a resident of Stanfield for the past 52 years. She came from Swedish ancestors, and was an active member of the Hope Presbyterian Church, past noble grand of the Rebekah Lodge, Echo V.F.W. Post Auxiliary, Good Shepherd Hospital Auxiliary, and a Blue Bird leader. She worked in sales in San Francisco at the downtown Emporium Store and during World War II as a truck driver in San Francisco. She and her husband were also foster parents.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Jordan, in 1990.

Betty is survived by two daughters, Margo Herd of Meacham and Judy Payne of Redding, Calif.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Monday, Feb. 26, at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Stanfield. A memorial service followed at the Hope Presbyterian Church in Stanfield.

Memorials may be made to the Hope Presbyterian Church. Burns Mortuary of Hermiston was in charge of the arrangements.
