Linfield cheers three local students

MCMINNVILLE — Linfield University recently announced honors earned by three local students.

Oliver Rodriguez, of Hermiston, was included on the dean’s list for the 2023 fall term. He earned a grade point average of at least 3.6 to receive the academic honor.

In addition, the university announced its cheer team placed 19th in the Open All Girl Game Day category during the 2024 Universal Cheerleaders Association College National Championship, Jan. 13-15, in Orlando, Florida. The competition included all levels of collegiate programs.

Local student-athletes participating on the squad include Taylor Longhorn, an elementary education major from Stanfield; and Shaelynn Silva, an exercise science major from Pendleton.
