Tom Denchel supports Umatilla teachers

To celebrate AYP success, Tom Denchel Ford offered free admission to the Umatilla County Fair for all Umatilla High School employees on Friday and Saturday last week.

Tom Denchel has been long-time supports of the district, but this was a really nice surprise, Superintendent Heidi Sipe said. I thought it was a great act of generocity for our staff.

School Board to discuss goals

The Umatilla School District Board of Directors will set board goals for the 2011-12 school year during a work session before its next meeting.

The work session will begin at 6 p.m. on Sept. 8, followed by the regular meeting at 7 p.m. The discussion was postponed from the Aug. 11 meeting.

Bull-riders boost booster funds

PRCA bull-rider Shane Proctor, of Grand Coulee, Wash., and Stormy Wing, of Dalhart, Texas, posed for photos and signed autrographs at the Umatilla Booster Club Elephant Ear Booth on Aug. 11. The fundraiser benefits Umatilla Viking Athletics.

This generated a lot of money for the booster club, and we really appreciate that, Heidi Sipe said. That was really nice of them, especially right before they had a competition.
