Freestyle motocross group to perform in Farm-City arena

When the Metal Mulisha takes any stage at an extreme sports competition, the entire crowd stops to watch.

They will be performing at the Farm-City Pro Rodeo arena Wednesday and  Thursday nights before the rodeo. Gates will open at 5:45 p.m. and the high-flying, acrobatic action will take place at 6 p.m.

Admission to the event, which is tabbed as The Premier FMX Demonstration Experience by the group, is included in the rodeo performance ticket price.

The Mulisha is a group of motocross riders and budding apparel designers that was just tired of the daily grind of life.

They take their act all around the United States and create their own stunts, tricks and whatever else they feel like doing that day.

They have launched product collaborations that helped fuel products like Rock Star Energy beverages and Etnies shoes.

When events like the X Games and other non-mainstream sports hit their stride in the 1990s and exploded in popularity, Brian Deegan and Larry Linkogle decided they needed to create a team, or more appropriately a brand, so people would recognize them.

Deegan and the rest of the crew have won several gold medals at the X Games, which were contested for the 17th time July 28-31 in Los Angeles.

Deegan is the most recognized rider in the group from a national standpoint, but the Metal Mulisha has its hands in rock music, mixed martial arts fighting and clothing for both men and women.

Through the message of nonconformity, Deegan and Linkogle created the Metal Mulisha freestyle motocross group in 1998, then the clothing line in 1999.

The Metal Mulisha clothing line can be found in more than 2,000 retailers in the US, Canada and Australia.
