The city had a $40,000 restroom facility installed near Rocky Heights Elementary last week.

The facility will be available to users of the soccer fields at the school, as well as the spray park near the Hermiston Butte.

Through an agreement with the Hermiston School District, last year the city committed to make $80,000 in improvements to Rocky Heights Elementary after adult soccer league games were moved from Butte Park to Rocky Heights.

An advisory group consisting of city, school district and soccer league representatives developed a list of priorities for the site, including a restroom facility near the fields.

Were still working on that list, Parks and Recreation Director Larry Fetter said on Tuesday.

Several people voiced concerns to the city last summer about the lack of permanent restrooms near the soccer fields at Rocky Heights.

Fetter said the city may also work with the school district to install new playground equipment at Rocky Heights.
