Cora Emma (Deusen) Linder, age 99, of New Plymouth passed away Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016.
Emma was born to Paul Frederick Deusen and Cora Marie (Ehfe) Deusen on Jan. 26, 1917, at home near New Plymouth, Idaho.
She attended Sunnyside School for two years, transferring to New Plymouth where she graduated in 1936.
She married Wheeler Calvin Linder on Dec. 24, 1938. They lived in New Plymouth until 1941 when they moved to Hermiston, Ore. Wheeler passed away in 1957. Emma worked at the Army Depot Ordnance from 1959 to 1973. She then moved to Boise and worked at the Veterans Hospital until she retired in 1979.
Emma enjoyed all kinds of handiwork, especially embroidery and crocheting. She made many afghans and kitchen towels for family and friends. She also liked working in her yards.
In 2004, she moved to New Plymouth where she resided until moving in 2016 to an assisted living facility in Fruitland. Emma was a member of American Legion Auxiliary of Hermiston, Ore., since 1946, the New Plymouth Senior Citizens, and the Priscilla Club.
Emma is survived three sons, Paul Charles (Hyeja) of Portland, Ore., William Gary (Judy) of Hermiston, Ore., and John Calvin (Deborrah) of Wallowa, Ore.; eight grandchildren, Debbie (Victor) Baros, Robert (Kim) Linder, Lisa (Scott) Fluckinger, Kim (John) Furgerson, Kristin (Sam) Connell, Emily (Wes) Nash, Charles J. (Katie) Linder, and Genevieve (Chris) Methvin; 20 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren, as well as two sisters, Mary A. Ziegler and Helen White, both of New Plymouth.
Preceding her in death is her husband, Wheeler, in 1957; her parents, Paul and Cora Deusen; two brothers-in-law, Guss Ziegler and Floyd White; daughter-in-law Jennifer Linder; and great-great-grandson Carrson Wade Furgerson.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20th at Plymouth Congregational Church in New Plymouth. Interment will be at Hermiston, Ore., cemetery on Friday, Oct. 21st at 2 p.m. (PST).
