People interested in teeing off for a good cause are invited to participate in a 4-person golf scramble.
In its 13th year, the event raises money to help support the Hermiston/Pendleton Special Olympics Local Program. The 18-hole tournament is Saturday, Aug. 11 with check-in at 8 and a shotgun start at 9 a.m. at Echo Hills Golf Course. The cost is $120 per team, which includes a continental breakfast, lunch, golf, door prizes, first and second place prizes, and closest to the pin, longest drive and team longest putt contests. People will receive a receipt for the tax-deductible portion of the entry fee. In addition, mulligans are $5 each and a special team score enhancement device is available for $10.
Special Olympics provides year-round athletic training and sports competitions for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Information is available regarding athlete participation or volunteer opportunities with the program.
