Search and rescue activated for missing Hermiston man

The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office suspended search and rescue operations for a missing Hermiston man on Tuesday, Aug. 25, after activating its search and rescue team to assist the Hermiston Police Department.
Daniel Lincoln, 37, was reported missing on Thursday, Aug. 20, and was last seen driving a 2010 black Jeep with Oregon plates 509GQN.
The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office was requested to assist on Friday, Aug. 21, when a ping on his cellphone showed a location southwest of Ukiah near Soap Hill Road and Bridge Road.
Since then, according to a news release, search and rescue teams have put in a total of 86 searcher operation hours, not including flights by the Civil Air Patrol and a volunteer from Heppner who used her private plane to sweep the area.
During that time, the sheriff’s office investigated one possible sighting, but otherwise have not had any other sightings or new information.
Lincoln is described in the missing persons bulletin as 6 feet, 1 inch tall, weighing approximately 230 pounds, with red hair.
He was last seen wearing blue jean shorts, a dark-colored shirt, a green baseball cap and brown Romero shoes.
