- Garrett Ray Zimmer Hermiston October 1, 1992-December 28, 2014
Garrett Ray Zimmer, 22, was called home on December 28th, 2014, in his hometown of Klamath Falls, Ore. Garrett was born on October 1, 1992, in Pendleton, Ore., to Brad and Jennifer Zimmer.
Garrett was an amazing young man; he had a zest for life that was contagious. Anyone who encountered him enjoyed his million dollar smile and that oh-so-bright twinkle in his eyes. He always taught others to never take a moment in this life for granted and not to dwell on anything negative. He felt that every day was a gift, and he certainly lived his life to the fullest.
Garrett graduated from Henley High School in Klamath Falls in 2011, where he was voted most likely to be a millionaire, most dependable and, of course, he was also voted most mischievous. He moved to Hermiston, Ore., in 2012 to work alongside his grandfather, Dell Ray Zimmer, at Farmers Insurance. Shortly after, Garrett decided to build his own agency next to his grandfather. Garrett was a third generation agent with Farmers Insurance. He was set to take over the legacy of his grandfather’s agency after Dell Ray retired on January 1, 2015.
Garrett was the youngest member of the Rotary Club in Hermiston, Ore., as well as a member of Toastmasters.
Garrett is survived by his parents, Brad and Jennifer Zimmer, sister Katelynn Zimmer and brother Devin Zimmer, all of Klamath Falls, Ore., grandparents Judy and Dell Ray Zimmer of Kennewick, Wash., and William and Sandra Rill, also of Kennewick, Wash., as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A celebration of Garret’s life will be held on Saturday, January 3 at 2 p.m. at Bible Baptist Church in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Garrett will be laid to rest in his mother’s hometown of Heppner, Oregon. There will be a graveside service at Heppner Masonic Cemetery on Monday, January 5 at 2 p.m., followed by a reception at the Heppner Elks Lodge.
