By the way: Hermiston prepares to light up holiday season

It’s time to illuminate your ride — cars, trucks, tractors, lawnmowers, ATVs, bikes — for the Hermiston Lighted Holiday Parade. Prizes will be awarded to the top three entries.

The downtown dazzling spectacle gets rolling Thursday, Nov. 30, 5:30 p.m. as part of the Hermiston Tree Lighting Celebration. The evening kicks off on Festival Street at 4:45 p.m. with live music and vendor booths. Santa Claus will arrive for the tree lighting ceremony at 6:15 p.m. and pose for photos ops until 7:30 p.m.

In its 41st year, the Community Fellowship Dinner is preparing for the first of two free holiday meals on Thanksgiving DayThursday, Nov. 23 at Hermiston High School, 600 S. First St. The full-service dinner runs from noon to 3 p.m. Also, limited menu takeout meals can be picked up between 2-4 p.m. In addition to dine-in and takeout service, local deliveries are available. Meal delivery orders must be placed before 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22.

Ladies Night at the SAGE Store features a chance to catch up with friends while enjoying wine, hors d’oeuvres, cider and browsing items offered by local vendors.
